Multi-Manifold Ranking: Using Multiple Features for Better Image Retrieval

چکیده
Manifold Ranking (MR) is one of the most popular graphbased ranking methods and has been widely used for information retrieval. Due to its ability to capture the geometric structure of the image set, it has been successfully used for image retrieval. The existing approaches that use manifold ranking rely only on a single image manifold. However, such methods may not fully discover the geometric structure of the image set and may lead to poor precision results. Motivated by this, we propose a novel method named Multi-Manifold Ranking (MMR) which embeds multiple image manifolds each constructed using a different image feature. We propose a novel cost function that is minimized to obtain the ranking scores of the images. Our proposed multi-manifold ranking has a better ability to explore the geometric structure of image set as demonstrated by our experiments. Furthermore, to improve the efficiency of MMR, a specific graph called anchor graph is incorporated into MMR. The extensive experiments on real world image databases demonstrate that MMR outperforms existing manifold ranking based methods in terms of quality and has comparable running time to the fastest MR algorithm.

Three Tiers Neighborhood Graph and Multi-graph Fusion Ranking for Multi-feature Image Retrieval: A Manifold Aspect
Abstract: Single feature is inefficient to describe content of an image, which is a shortcoming in traditional image retrieval task. We know that one image can be described by different features. Multi-feature fusion ranking can be utilized to improve the ranking list of query. In this paper, we first analyze graph structure and multi-feature fusion re-ranking from manifold aspect. Then, Three ...

Relevance feedback image retrieval is an effective scheme bridging the gap between low-level features and high-level concepts. It is essentially a multiquery ranking problem where the user submitted image and provided positive examples are considered as queries. Most of the existing approaches either merge the multiple queries into a single query or consider them independently, and then the geo...

متن کاملTags Re-ranking Using Multi-level Features in Automatic Image Annotation
Automatic image annotation is a process in which computer systems automatically assign the textual tags related with visual content to a query image. In most cases, inappropriate tags generated by the users as well as the images without any tags among the challenges available in this field have a negative effect on the query's result. In this paper, a new method is presented for automatic image...
